Elahe Marjovi is an Iranian-Canadian theatre designer and arts manager, born in Tehran and based in Toronto. Trained in architecture and theatre design, her artistic practice explores the relationship between space, storytelling, and performance. Alongside her creative practice, she has served as Theatre Program Manager at the Toronto Arts Council since 2020, supporting artists and theatre organizations across the city. Before moving to Canada in 2014, Elahe worked as a set design assistant on Broadway and as an invited professor of scenic design at the University of Tehran. She has designed for companies including Factory Theatre, Centaur Theatre Company, Black Theatre Workshop, and the National Arts Centre. She previously served as fundraising officer at Tirgan, a major international festival celebrating Iranian art and culture. Across four editions of the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, Elahe has contributed as a curator of Iran’s first exhibition and as a speaker in international talks and seminars on scenography and performance design. Her design work has received local and international recognition, including a Dora Award nomination for The Monument, a nomination at Iran’s Fadjr Theatre Festival for Macbeth, and a National Award in Design Excellence from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Shahid Beheshti University in Iran, an MFA in Theatre Design from the University of Kansas, and a Master’s degree in International Arts Management from HEC Montréal and Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas.
